Biography of Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell during the early '70s was a baseball player playing second base for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Double-A minor league affiliate, the El Paso Sun Kings. During one of his plays he was injured and tore his rotator cuff in his right shoulder. The injury forced his retirement from the baseball game and pushed him into acting in 1973. Kurt Russell who auditioned for the role of Han Solo in "Star Wars" {1977} has lost the role to another Hollywood actor Harrison Ford.
Kurt Russell teamed up with Hollywood director John Carpenter playing the role of Elvis Presley in his made-for-television biopic "Elvis" in 1979 for which Kurt Russell received an Emmy nomination. The duo then went on to create memorable roles in several films like "Escape from New York" {1981} and its sequel "Escape from L.A." {1996}, "The Thing" {1982}, "Big Trouble in Little China" {1986}.
